Photo print walmart3/1/2023 tif that's close to the final size?ģ) Since my pictures out of the 300D are usually slighly soft, the sharpening imposed by the Walmart will be ok. ![]() So, one of two things - should I give them a full size. Question is - what tips do people have for using Walmart printing? Some questions:ġ) Regarding exposure, does the "thin black (RGB 0 0 0) border" trick work usually, or is it not even necessary?Ģ) Regarding output quality - should I resample my pictures to ~ destination size? I suspect I shouldn't because I am pretty sure Walmart printer will reprocess the picture anyway, and multiple processing steps will only degrade quality. (it can also be considerably faster as I can choose the 1hour option with pickup - i.e. jpgs from a Canon 300D, minimally processed (and, yes, the flash photos looked fine in terms of Saturation on 3 different monitors).Īnyway, given that Walmart has such competitive prices, if they give me good results on 90% of "unchallenging" photos, I'm going to use Walmart. Good to know.įor the record, this was for. The Walmart print is ridiculous - they simply printed the picture on the 6 x 4, with people's heads chopped off. Shutterfly maintained the square aspect ratio by shrinking it considerably so that is sat in middle of 6 x 4 photo surrounded by a sea of white. Out of curiosity, to see what each lab would do I had one of the pictures at a squarish aspect ratio. The Walmart ones were spot on, to my surprise.Ĥ) Obviously, make sure that the aspect ratio of your picture matches your chosen size. The Shutterfly prints of flash photographs were far too saturated. In the end my experience was that:ġ) Outdoor pictures looked similar for both Walmart and ShutterflyĢ) Walmart applies some sharpening to all pictures (Not ideal, but actually ok given that SLR pictures are typically slighly soft by default) (wish I had known though.)ģ) Indoor pictures (flash) looked far better from Walmart than from Shutterfly, surprisingly. I had read a review of Walmart on epinions suggesting the use of a very small black border around each picture to ensure that the Fuji printer at Walmart doesn't try to shift the exposure. ![]() I sent the same 6 pictures to Walmart (cheapest) and to Shutterfly (one of the "best" according to some reviewers). ![]() I just recently used online printing of my digital pictures for the first time.
